China carried out one of the most extreme Covid-19 response policies in the world at the start of the pandemic. By July 2021, China had enjoyed a nearly Covid-free environment for over a year. College students who graduated back in 2020 were allowed to physically return to campus and celebrate their graduation one year late.

While the sex education textbook designed by Dr. Liu Wenli was banned in China’s public schools in 2019, researchers have brought their curriculum to the more rural part of education–schools for migrant children. With almost zero government censorship and administrative pressure, the sex education classes found success in underprivileged schools.
